Day 1, Act 1; The Nikie n Nina's dress worn by none other than Hadiqa Kiani, outclassed everyone and truly made the singer a certain show stopper! The Diva continues to prove whatever she is dressed in, she carries it well.Nickie and Nina are two sisters with an indisputable flair for fashion. The two designers together form an impressive team behind the Lahore based house of haute couture. The due work with a variety of fabrics and what truly sets them apart is the innovative way they combine two or more textures in a single garment. Similarly, they mix bright and subtle hues in a unique fusion of colour displaying a fine-tuned aesthetic sense. It is without a doubt, Nikie n Nina picked the perfect superstar for their ramp as a show stopper; Hadiqa Kiani!



The Couture collection which was inspired by Kösem Sultan, mother to the Ottoman Emperor and later to become one of the most powerful women in the Ottoman Empire and Muslim history. Nickie Nina’s dynamic Fashion Week Couture collection took a cue from this classy and powerful feminist, illustrating her bravery and legendary poise through a series of elegant and vibrant designs. The collection used flowing lines and rich hues merged with extravagant embroidery and traditional embellishments that brought to mind the regal days of yore. Speaking about their participation and their collection at the PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week, the duo has said, “Hailing from a family of formidable women, the iconic design house of Nickie Nina has always sought to represent strong feminine ideals in its collections”. Renowned musician Hadiqa Kiani walked the ramp for Nickie Nina. The sister duo of Nickie and Nina together form the impressive team behind the Lahore based house of haute couture which was launched in 2000. The duo works with a variety of fabrics and their signature style rests on the innovative way they combine two or more textures in a single creation.

Hadiqa Kiani was previously seen in February 2010 at the pfdc fashion week, all draped in red, with a hair style and a smile to die for. Recently, Hadiqa was seen backstage preparing for day One -PFDC Sunsilk Fashion show red carpet event; all dressed in black with a polka dot (b&w) top inside, a thick silver chain around her neck, a stylish huge belt around her waist and her long brown streaked hair screaming flawlessness! Hadiqa arrived to the red carpet and left everyone stunned with her style of perfection. This queen of pop always comes up with different looks. Undoubtedly, every look suits her. Day 2, of PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week 2010 started with great excitement. The day opened with music icons Shahzad Roy and Hadiqa Kiani walking the ramp for Asifa & Nabeel’s collection “Romulus”. The Lahore based designer duo’s collection was divided into two parts; one that showed self assurance and the other that showed a pleasant surprise with a decorative element. Beautifully created, the prints were a whirlwind of light and dark colours draping symmetrically in the silhouette. This collection for women was a blend of chiffon and silks with Swarovskies, Zardozi and Beads. Talking about their participation in the second PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week the duo said “We are very glad to be a part of the Sunsilk fashion week being held in Karachi .The chair person Sehyr Saigol has put in all her energy to make it an event to be remembered.  PFDC has incorporated many big players who will support and facilitate the process, and big business is exactly what fashion is supposed to be.”

The label Asifa & Nabeel has been established for the past 13 years and is well renowned and respected for their Prêt-à-porter, Haute Couture and Bridal lines they also participated their dresses in charity show called “Fashion Gives Back” in which the Fashion Week with many other designers. The brand currently retails across 3 of Pakistan’s major cities as well as to an international clientele. Indeed their signature style is found in their flamboyant use of diverse fabrics and unique interplay of colors and cuts. The previous Fashion Week showcased Asifa & Nabeel’s formal womenswear collection. Based in pure fabrics including chiffons and silks with fusion silhouettes, their collection reflects an amalgamation of vibrant embroidery inspired by the Kalash and Kafiristani aesthetic.

 This collection also drew from the Russian painter and graphic artist Wassily Kandinksy’s painting ‘Composition VII’ in which an oval seems almost the eye of a compositional hurricane, surrounded by swirling masses of color and form which according to Art scholars, feels like an operatic outburst of pure painting. Traditional Pakistani threadwork and stones along with Dabka and Zardozi work were seen in this collection.
