CV: NOV 2007 A high profile Charter Accountant, industrialist and veteran politician from Punjab, Salman Taseer has been inducted as Federal Minister for Industries, production and Special Initiatives in the Caretaker Cabinet of Prime Minister Muhammadmian Soomro.Taseer is the Chairman and CEO of the First Capital and Worldcall Group. Early in his career, he successfully set up two chartered accountancy and management consultancy firms KPMG, UAE and Taseer Hadi Khalid & Company, Chartered Accountants, Pakistan.
In 1994, he established First Capital Securities Corporation Limited (FCSC), a full service brokerage house, with equity participation by Smith Barney Inc. USA and HG Asia, Hong Kong. Since then he has been actively involved in establishing other companies in the financial services sector as well as the telecommunications, media, insurance and real estate/property development sectors in Pakistan.
Taseer has vast experience of specialization in merger and acquisitions, floatation, investment banking and stock market analysis and also delivered presentations on various financial issues. He is currently also serving as a member of the Board of Trade Development Authority of Pakistan and on the Board of Directors of USF (Universal Service Fund) Company Limited.
Under Taseer’s able leadership, the First Capital/World call Group has grown remarkably and today the group operates a mix of telecom & technology, retail and property development, financial services and print & media businesses with national and international coverage.
